1st All India Judges’ Badminton Championship, 2025

The 1ˢᵗ All India Judges’ Badminton Championship 2025 was held on 4ᵗʰ and 5ᵗʰ January, 2025 at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Cuttack. The event was inaugurated by Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh, Chief Justice in presence of all participating Judges of different High courts. The event, a first-of-its-kind, witnessed participation of Judges from several High Courts, along with their family members. The competition was held among the participating Judges in Singles and Doubles events. The Singles event was won by Justice Raja Vijayaraghavan of Kerala High Court and runner-up was Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas of Kerala High Court. Similarly, the Doubles event was won by Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas and Justice Raja Vijayaraghavan of Kerala High Court and runner-up was Justice G.K. Ilanthiraiyan and Justice N. Satish Kumar of Madras High Court.

Felicitation of retired employees and employees who have completed 25
years of service.

A felicitation ceremony for the employees of the High Court, who had retired from service in between August to December, 2024 and who had completed 25 years of service was organized on 16ᵗʰ January, 2025 in the premises of the High Court in presence of the Chief Justice and other companion Judges of the court who had graced the occasion and felicitated the employees.

Observance of Foundation Day of Museum of Justice

The Foundation Day of the Museum of Justice was observed on 25ᵗʰ February, 2025 in presence of Justice Arindam Sinha, Acting Chief Justice and other companion Judges of the Court who had graced the occasion.

Bench versus Bar Cricket Match

A friendly T20 cricket match was held on 31ˢᵗ March, 2025 between the Judges of the court and the members of the High Court Orissa Bar Association at the Barabati Stadium, Cuttack. In the said match, the Bench was led by Justice Arindam Sinha Acting Chief Justice and the Bar was led by the President, High Court Bar Association. The Bar won the match and the winner’s trophy was presented by Justice Arindam Sinha to the President, High Court Bar Association. The Man of the Match award was won by Justice R.K. Pattanaik.

An event for handing over of keys of the quarters to the employees of the High Court was held on 25ᵗʰ April, 2025 in the premises of the High Court. The Chief Justice and other companion Judges graced the event and handed over keys to different employees of the Court.

Celebration of Madhu Jayanti
The birth anniversary of Shri Madhusudan Das, known as Lawyer’s Day, was celebrated on 28ᵗʰ April, 2025 in the premises of the High Court. On the said occasion, the Judges of the Court and members of the High Court Bar Association garlanded the statue of Shri Madhusudan Das installed in the premises of the High Court.

Observance of Foundation Day of Centre for Judicial Archives

The Foundation Day celebration of the Centre for Judicial Archives was organized in the Odisha Judicial Academy on 10ᵗʰ May, 2025. The event was graced by Justice Harish Tandon, the Chief Justice along with other companion Judges of the High Court. Shri Arun Bandopadhyay, retired Professor of History, Calcutta University was the Chief Guest of the function. A book “The Judicial History of Odisha Vol–II” was released.

International Yoga Day Celebration

The International Yoga Day was observed on 21st June, 2025 in the premises of the High Court where the Chief Justice, companion Judges of the court, officers of the Registry and other staff of the Court actively participated in the event. The invited yoga guru had taught various Yoga Asanas which have positive impacts in our day-to-day life and emphasized on the importance of Yoga for good physical and mental health. The Chief Justice and companion Judges also participated in a plantation drive held at the premises of the High Court Guest House.

Observance of Foundation Day of the High Court of Orissa

On 26ᵗʰ July, 2025, the 78ᵗʰ Foundation Day of the High Court of Orissa was celebrated. The Chief Justice and other companion Judges of the court and members of the High Court Bar Association participated in the event. On the same day, the death anniversary of Justice Bira Kishore Ray, the first Chief Justice of the High Court of Orissa was also observed.

Visit of students of Shree Krishna International School to the High Court

As a part of High Court’s initiative and in order to raise awareness of the Judiciary among the school students, an event was organized on 31ˢᵗ August, 2025 where the students of Shree Krishna International School, and their teachers had visited the High Court. The Registry made interaction with the students and explained them about the history and functioning of the High Court followed by a doubt clearing session.

State-level consultation on Safeguarding the Girl Child: Towards a
safer and enabling Environment
A State-Level Juvenile Justice Consultation was organized by Juvenile Justice Committee, High Court of Orissa on 13ᵗʰ September, 2025 in collaboration with the Odisha Judicial Academy, Department of Women & Child Development (WCD) and UNICEF at Odisha Judicial Academy, Cuttack. The consultation was organized on the theme and specific focus on “Safeguarding the Girl Child: Towards a Safer and Enabling Environment for her in India”. The consultation concluded with several critical recommendations namely: Education, Empowerment & Inclusion, Community Vigilance & Local Governance, Health, Protection & Justice, Rehabilitation, reintegration & Support Services and Convergence Accountability & Monitoring.

Observance of Gandhi Jayanti

The birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was observed on 02ⁿᵈ October, 2025. The Judges of the High Court, Registry and the members of the Bar Association of High Court of Orissa garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi installed in the premises of the High Court.

Observance of Constitution Day
On 26ᵗʰ day of November, 2025 “Constitution Day” was celebrated at the New Conference Hall of the Old Court building on the theme “From the Preamble to the Court Room: Enforcing the Nations Ideals & Aspirations” in presence of Chief Justice and companion Judges of the High Court. In the said occasion other dignitaries i.e the learned Advocate General of Government of Odisha, Deputy Solicitor General of India for the state of Odisha, Chairman, Odisha State Bar Council and members of the High Court Bar Association, Odisha were also present.

Visit of The Chief Justice of India to the High Court of Orissa
Hon’ble Mr. Justice Suryakant, Chief Justice of India visited the High Court of Orissa on 14ᵗʰ December, 2025 and was felicitated with a memento and guard of honour. During his visit, he had a glance at the premises of the High Court and interacted with the Chief Justice and other companion Judges of the Court. He attended the symposium “Ensuring Justice for the Common Man: Strategies for reducing litigation costs and delays” as the Chief Guest, organized by Orissa High Court Bar Association.
